After about a year in a home, Bayou was returned due to ongoing anxiety and difficulty settling into the household environment. He is now starting over and currently in a foster home while we help him decompress and stabilize. He is receiving medication to help manage his anxiety, and we are already seeing improvement. ASH
Age: 5 years
Ideal Home: A loving home where he can receive plenty of attention, with another cat-friendly companion given a proper introduction and time to adjust

Sadly, no one ever came forward to claim him, so Ash is now waiting for the family who will give him the loving home he deserves.
Ash is a petite little guy for his age, but he certainly doesn't have a small personality! He is incredibly sweet and affectionate and absolutely loves attention. Background:
Fawna came to White Oak Animal Safe Haven from a hoarding situation with many other cats. She arrived terrified of the world around her, hissing, swatting, and trying to protect herself out of fear and confusion. It took about a month of patience from our dedicated staff and volunteers, along with the friendship of our resident cats, for Fawna to realize she was finally safe.
Now, Fawna is heartbreakingly the last cat from her rescue group still waiting for a forever home. After such a long stay at the shelter, we can't understand why she's been overlooked. Beneath her timid beginning was a bright, playful girl just waiting for the chance to shine.
Personality:
Good With:

Fawna is proof that love and patience can change a life. Once she trusts you, her playful personality shines brighter every day, filling the room with laughter as she chases toys, greets you with head bumps, and tries to make friends with every cat she meets. We know that once she feels safe again, she'll reward that patience with a lifetime of companionship, entertainment, and unconditional love.

Ideal Home: A calm, patient home with another friendly cat where he can continue building confidence and feel safe as he blossoms

One of the biggest things helping Frye come out of his shell has been making a feline friend. He has become buddies with another kitten in our care, Scribble, and having a confident cat by his side has helped Frye discover how much fun toys can be and that humans aren't so scary after all. Because he gains so much confidence from other cats, Frye must have another friendly feline companion in his forever home.

Liana came to us after she was found hiding underneath someone's car. She was dehydrated, wasn't feeling well, and needed a safe place to land. Before coming to us, Liana had been TNR'ed, so people are still a very new and scary thing for her.
Since arriving, Liana has been making small but meaningful progress with our staff and volunteers. She is handleable once she trusts you and has started accepting gentle pets. On her own terms, she will even lean into them. These little moments may seem small, but they are a huge step for a girl who is still learning that people can be trusted.
Personality:

Age: 2 years
Ideal Home: A calm, quiet foster-to-adopt home where he can feel safe, comfortable, and continue receiving supportive care
Background:
Vader came to WOASH after his previous family made the difficult decision to surrender him due to behavioral concerns in the home. It’s important to note that these behaviors were not aggressive in nature. Since arriving in our care, we have not observed the concerns previously described, and our staff will gladly discuss his history and needs in more detail with potential adopters to help ensure the best fit.
Unfortunately, Vader is front declawed, and while we cannot say for certain, we strongly suspect the procedure may not have healed comfortably for him. He walks with an abnormal gait, often appearing to avoid putting pressure on parts of his paws, and he seems most comfortable when resting or lounging.
Personality:

Most kittens are in foster homes. All pets require an appointment to meet them, but especially kittens, as meet and greets depend on foster availability. To schedule a meet and greet please call 412-672-8901.
Generally, kittens do best with other pets in the home, especially another cat friend. Nearly all WOASH adoptable kittens require another cat in the home or to be adopted as a pair. We typically do not allow kittens do be adopted as the singular pet in the household, unless they require otherwise.

We have a few kitties who need a cat-savvy foster family, or foster-to-adopt home, to work with them on socialization. These cats are not feral, but they are not well socialized. We know they have it in them to be loving companions given the right circumstances and a patient person. Please consider serving as a socialization foster or a foster-to-adopt family. The kitties to consider are Ricardo or Midnight!

We are always in need of reliable foster homes for kittens up to 6 months old, moms cats with nursing kittens, and neonatal kittens. Our greatest need is fosters willing to take on a mom and nursing kittens!
WOASH can provide food, litter, and other supplies while foster families provide the love and care. Once kittens are of appropriate age and vet care, they begin seeking their forever homes through the WOASH adoption process.
Call to inquire about becoming a kitten foster home.
*The pictured kittens have been adopted and are not in need of a foster home.*
