Ash is a petite little guy for his age, but he certainly doesn't have a small personality! He is incredibly sweet and affectionate and absolutely loves attention. Elinor and Merida are incredibly close, and it is clear how much this devoted mama loves her daughter. He deserves a peaceful forever home where he can feel safe and loved again.

With a little love, a soft brush, and plenty of cozy naps, Farryn will make a devoted and wonderful companion for the lucky family who gives her the second chance she deserves.

 FAWNA

Age: 2 years
Ideal Home: A calm, patient home with other friendly cats where she can settle in at her own pace

Background:
Fawna came to White Oak Animal Safe Haven from a hoarding situation with many other cats. She arrived terrified of the world around her, hissing, swatting, and trying to protect herself out of fear and confusion. It took about a month of patience from our dedicated staff and volunteers, along with the friendship of our resident cats, for Fawna to realize she was finally safe.

Now, Fawna is heartbreakingly the last cat from her rescue group still waiting for a forever home. After such a long stay at the shelter, we can't understand why she's been overlooked. Beneath her timid beginning was a bright, playful girl just waiting for the chance to shine.

Personality:

She has so much love to give and is simply waiting for a family who will give her the time she needs to settle in. We know that once she feels safe again, she'll reward that patience with a lifetime of companionship, entertainment, and unconditional love.

FRYE

Age: 4 months
Ideal Home: A calm, patient home with another friendly cat where he can continue building confidence and feel safe as he blossoms

Background:
Frye came to us as a stray alongside his mom, Soleil. As an undersocialized kitten, Frye initially found the world to be a pretty scary place. Our staff and volunteers have been working with him every day to help him build confidence, and we're so proud of the progress he's already made!

One of the biggest things helping Frye come out of his shell has been making a feline friend. He has become buddies with another kitten in our care, Scribble, and having a confident cat by his side has helped Frye discover how much fun toys can be and that humans aren't so scary after all. Because he gains so much confidence from other cats, Frye must have another friendly feline companion in his forever home.

Personality:

  • Sweet and gentle
  • Shy and still building confidence
  • Becoming more playful every day
  • Enjoys toys and learning through play
  • Looks to other cats for reassurance
  • Making wonderful progress with patient handling

Good With:

  • Other cats (required)
  • Calm, patient adults
  • Older, cat-respectful children
  • Quiet and gentle households

Does Not Prefer:

  • Being the only cat in the home
  • Young or overly energetic children
  • Loud or chaotic environments
  • Being rushed before he's ready

Frye may need a little extra time to trust, but watching him discover that the world isn't so scary is incredibly rewarding. With a feline friend by his side and a patient family willing to let him blossom at his own pace, Frye has so much potential to become a loving and playful companion. This sweet little gentleman is ready for someone who will show him just how wonderful life can be.

 GEORGE

Age: 9 years
Ideal Home: A quiet, calm home where he can decompress at his own pace with a patient family willing to give him the time and space he needs to feel safe again

Background:
George was originally adopted from White Oak Animal Safe Haven in 2016. Sadly, he recently found himself back at the shelter after his owner passed away and there was no family member able to care for him.

After spending so many years in a loving home, the sudden loss of his person and return to the shelter has been incredibly overwhelming. George is currently very shut down and extremely fearful, so our staff and volunteers are taking things very slowly while giving him the time and patience he needs to begin feeling safe again.

Personality:

  • Very fearful and shut down right now
  • Quiet and overwhelmed in the shelter
  • Needs time to decompress and regain confidence
  • Needs patience and gentle encouragement
  • Experiencing a major transition after many years in a home

  • Calm, quiet households
  • Patient adults
  • Someone willing to give him time and space
  • A home where he can decompress at his own pace

Does Not Prefer:

  • Loud or chaotic environments
  • Being rushed or overwhelmed
  • Fast-paced households

George has already experienced the heartbreaking loss of the person he knew and loved, and now he's trying to understand why his entire world has changed. We hope his time at the shelter is short and that his next home will be a peaceful one where he can slowly come out of his shell. George deserves the chance to feel safe, loved, and secure again.

 LIANA

Age: 2 years
Ideal Home: A quiet, adult-only home with a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time and is willing to let Liana adjust at her own pace

Background:
Liana came to us after she was found hiding underneath someone's car. She was dehydrated, wasn't feeling well, and needed a safe place to land. Before coming to us, Liana had been TNR'ed, so people are still a very new and scary thing for her.

Since arriving, Liana has been making small but meaningful progress with our staff and volunteers. She is handleable once she trusts you and has started accepting gentle pets. On her own terms, she will even lean into them. These little moments may seem small, but they are a huge step for a girl who is still learning that people can be trusted.

Personality:

  • Very timid and fearful
  • Gentle and handleable once trust is established
  • Slowly becoming more comfortable with people
  • Accepts gentle pets when she feels safe
  • Makes progress at her own pace
  • Needs patience, consistency, and understanding

Good With:

  • Patient adults
  • Quiet, calm households
  • Another calm, friendly cat with proper introductions
  • Someone willing to give her plenty of time to adjust

Does Not Prefer:

  • Loud or chaotic environments
  • Being rushed or overwhelmed
  • Young children
  • Fast-paced households

Liana isn't the type of cat who will settle into a new home overnight. She may need weeks or even months to truly feel safe, but for the right person, watching her slowly discover that she is loved will be incredibly rewarding. She's safe now, and we're hopeful that her next chapter will be filled with the patience, understanding, and love she deserves

We would absolutely love to see them find a forever home together so they can continue their lives side by side.

If they are unable to be adopted together, Merida should do well with other friendly cats given a proper introduction.

  • Playful and curious
  • Enjoys playing with toys
  • Social and outgoing
  • Shares a special bond with her mama

Good With:

Merida is a sweet little girl with a big personality and an even bigger love for her people. She loves attention, enjoys playing with toys, and is happiest when she has someone to love and something fun to explore. Her bond with her mama is incredibly special, and we would love for these two to have the chance to grow old together. Merida is ready to find a family where she can play, cuddle, and be loved for years to come!

With patience, understanding, and a peaceful home, Phantom will reward her person with quiet affection, gentle companionship, and a bond that is truly worth the wait.

Since arriving in our care, Roxy has been transitioned back to a proper feline diet and has been receiving the veterinary care she deserves. She's already looking and feeling so much better—her beautiful coat is becoming soft and shiny again, and she's ready to begin the next chapter of her life with a family who will always put her well-being first.

  • Long-haired coat will require regular brushing to keep it healthy and free of mats

Roxy has been through a great deal of change, but she hasn't let it dull her loving spirit. She's a gentle, affectionate girl who simply wants a peaceful home, a few cozy laps to nap on, and a family who will cherish her for the wonderful companion she is. With proper care, plenty of love, and regular brushing, Roxy is ready to spend her golden years exactly as every cat deserves—safe, healthy, and adored.

 SCRIBBLE

Age: 4 months
Ideal Home: A calm, patient home with another friendly cat where he can build confidence at his own pace

Background:
Scribble was trapped in an area with numerous free-roaming cats and kittens. While the world is still a little overwhelming for him, he's making wonderful progress every day. Scribble is learning that people can be kind, and with patience and encouragement, he's continuing to come out of his shell.

Personality:

  • Shy and gentle
  • Growing more confident every day
  • Loves lounging in cozy cat beds
  • Enjoys gentle petting
  • Quiet and observant
  • Blossoms with patience and consistency

Good With:

  • Other cats (required)
  • Cat-respectful older children or teens
  • Adults
  • Calm, cat-friendly dogs (may do well with proper introductions)

Does Not Prefer:

  • Being the only cat in the home
  • Busy or chaotic households
  • Young or overly energetic children

Scribble may not be the first kitten to run up and greet you, but watching him gain confidence is incredibly rewarding. He has a gentle heart and is learning to trust a little more each day. With a calm home, a feline friend, and someone willing to let him move at his own pace, Scribble is sure to blossom into a wonderful lifelong companion.

 VADER
Age: 2 years
Ideal Home: A calm, quiet foster-to-adopt home where he can feel safe, comfortable, and continue receiving supportive care

Background:
Vader came to WOASH after his previous family made the difficult decision to surrender him due to behavioral concerns in the home. It’s important to note that these behaviors were not aggressive in nature. Since arriving in our care, we have not observed the concerns previously described, and our staff will gladly discuss his history and needs in more detail with potential adopters to help ensure the best fit.

Unfortunately, Vader is front declawed, and while we cannot say for certain, we strongly suspect the procedure may not have healed comfortably for him. He walks with an abnormal gait, often appearing to avoid putting pressure on parts of his paws, and he seems most comfortable when resting or lounging.

Personality:

  • Incredibly sweet, soft, and snuggly
  • Loves being petted and spending time with his people
  • Enjoys cozy beds and comfortable places to relax
  • Likes playing with his favorite toys
  • Calm and affectionate companion
  • Gentle soul who thrives in a peaceful environment

Good With:

Adoptable Cats & Kittens in Foster Care

Most kittens are in foster homes. All pets require an appointment to meet them, but especially kittens, as meet and greets depend on foster availability. To schedule a meet and greet please call 412-672-8901.

Generally, kittens do best with other pets in the home, especially another cat friend. Nearly all WOASH adoptable kittens require another cat in the home or to be adopted as a pair. We typically do not allow kittens do be adopted as the singular pet in the household, unless they require otherwise.

Foster Families Needed

Cat-Savvy Fosters Needed

We have a few kitties who need a cat-savvy foster family, or foster-to-adopt home, to work with them on socialization. These cats are not feral, but they are not well socialized. We know they have it in them to be loving companions given the right circumstances and a patient person. Please consider serving as a socialization foster or a foster-to-adopt family. The kitties to consider are Ricardo or Midnight!

KITTENS

We are always in need of reliable foster homes for kittens up to 6 months old, moms cats with nursing kittens, and neonatal kittens. Our greatest need is fosters willing to take on a mom and nursing kittens!

WOASH can provide food, litter, and other supplies while foster families provide the love and care. Once kittens are of appropriate age and vet care, they begin seeking their forever homes through the WOASH adoption process.

Call to inquire about becoming a kitten foster home.

*The pictured kittens have been adopted and are not in need of a foster home.*

Found kittens or a mom with nursing kittens? Offer to one time foster! By offering to foster the kittens through our shelter, we can provide supplies and care, you just provide the space, love, and care!
