Declawing is an inhumane procedure that involves amputating a cat's toes at the first knuckle, causing severe pain, and potentially leading to long-term health and behavioral issues. This procedure can result in lameness, arthritis, and difficulty walking, as well as a heightened risk of infection. Declawed cats may also develop behavioral problems, including increased aggression, anxiety, and litter box issues. Imagine having your fingers amputated at the first knuckle—this is what declawing does to cats. At WOASH, we do not tolerate declawing, and any cat adopted from us is never to be declawed, as outlined in our legally binding adoption agreement.
There are many alternative to managing cat's nails and scratching. If you are not willing to try alternative methods, then DON'T HAVE A CAT.
