Meet Ricardo, Brûlée, and Midnight

Are you cat savvy?

Do you have a soft spot for the overlooked kitties just waiting to shine? Meet Ricardo, Brûlée, and Midnight - our shy sweethearts who are making beautiful progress, but still need patient, understanding homes.

These three have been at WOASH for several months now and have come such a long way with their socialization. Because our staff and volunteers work with them every single day, they’ve learned that people can be kind, safe, and bring very good things (like squeeze treats!).

That said - they are not “instantly outgoing” cats. They will still require continued socialization in their forever homes. Their future families must understand that patience, consistency, and gentle daily interaction will be key to helping them keep blossoming. They are absolutely worth it - but they will need time.

Without further ado, meet our shy sweethearts:

Ricardo - At 9 months old, Ricardo is doing wonderful with his socialization, and already stealing hearts with his silly antics. Once very fearful of people, he now perks right up at the jingle of a toy or the crinkle of a treat bag. The fastest way to his heart? Squeeze treats! He absolutely LOVES Churu and may even try to steal the tube from your hand.

Brûlée - Also 9 months old and Ricardo’s bestie, our tortie queen Brûlée is doing SO well with her socialization journey. She used to sprint along the tops of our cat cages to avoid people, but look at her now! With those she trusts, Brûlée leans into gentle pets and offers the sweetest little head boops asking for more. She is slowly blossoming into a soft, affectionate girl, and it has been such a joy to watch.

Midnight - One-year-old Midnight came to us as a stray, and you’ll often spot her sleek black coat zipping quietly through the cat room. Her favorite pastime is lounging out on the catio, soaking up the breeze when things are calm. Recently, she’s revealed a love for squeeze treats too! She’ll peek out when she hears the other cats licking away and will slowly make her way over for her share. Gentle, curious, and quiet, Midnight would be the perfect little shadow for someone seeking a calm companion.

Each of them does wonderfully with other cats and would be happiest in a home with a feline friend to help boost their confidence. They would do best with older, cat-savvy children who understand and respect boundaries or an adult only home.

These cats have made incredible progress because of daily, patient interaction. Their adopters must be ready to continue that work - offering reassurance, routine, and lots of gentle encouragement. With time and love, we know they will continue to flourish.
