Meet Briar

Meet Briar — Still Waiting for Her Happy Ending

Briar is the last puppy left from her litter, and she’s been patiently waiting for her forever home since April. At just 6 months old and around 30 pounds, this beautiful Catahoula Leopard Dog mix is expected to stay medium-sized when full grown. Her journey hasn’t been easy—Briar and her siblings were surrendered to us from an accidental litter. In their earliest weeks, they only knew one person and each other. When they arrived, they were tiny, terrified, and unsure of everything: people, the shelter, and even their own shadows.

While her siblings have all been adopted, Briar has watched from her kennel as they left one by one. She's watched other shelter dogs come and go. And she's still here—still waiting. But despite that, Briar has made incredible progress. The shy little pup who once cowered under legs is now showing glimpses of her playful, goofy personality—especially when she’s around other dogs.

Briar truly comes alive with canine companions. She feels safer and braver when she’s with another pup, which is why she absolutely needs a home with a confident dog who can help her continue to grow and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. While she’s still shy around new people, once she bonds with you, she’s incredibly affectionate—asking for belly rubs and trotting at your side with a goofy grin. She’s food-motivated, energetic, and would thrive in a home that offers daily playtime, walks, or backyard zoomies.

Briar won’t open up overnight, but with patience, love, and the right doggy sibling, she will blossom. Earning her trust is a deeply rewarding experience—because once she chooses you, she gives you her whole heart.

We’ve done all we can for Briar at the shelter, but she deserves more. She deserves a home, a family, and a chance to know life beyond kennel walls. If you think you can give Briar the second chance she’s been waiting for, please reach out.
